About Me

Hülya Miclisse-Polat

Hello! My name is Hülya and I was born in Montréal, QC raised in Miami, FL and now currently back in Montreal studying as a law student. I am someone who loves travelling and uncovering new cultures, particularly within the African Diaspora. Being of Haitian and Turkish descent means that both cultures love to gather around food and music, so this is very central to my identity and lived experience. It’s hard to travel during school at the moment, therefore I want to use this blog for folks like me who reminisce on past trips, who live vicariously through others, and who do take trips here and there.

When I’m not studying, I am busy trying to uncover all things relating to culture, music, travel, current events, and food in the African Diaspora or the perspectives of traveling and navigating social life from a Black woman lens. When I am not posting to Instagram, you can find me by the water, trying out a new restaurant, going to jam sessions, or looking at the latest fashion trends. Reminder that black lives matter and my body isn’t a political playground.
